A hinged reducer that converts a 10 mm port to 5 mm in one movement, so a smaller instrument can be passed without swapping the cannula or venting the abdomen.
The cap is tethered rather than loose. That sounds like a small thing until a free reducer disappears into the drapes mid-procedure — the hinge keeps it captive on the port and flips clear when full 10 mm access is wanted again.
Available in three seal materials. Metal lasts longest under repeated autoclaving; silicone gives the most forgiving seal around an instrument shaft; plastic is the economical choice for lighter lists. All three are autoclavable and interchangeable across standard 10 mm cannulae.

Is the optical trocar compatible with our existing 0 degree scope?

AIt accepts a standard 0° laparoscope. Both 5 mm and 10 mm scopes are accommodated depending on the trocar size ordered.

Which size should I order for a standard laparoscopic cholecystectomy?

AMost cholecystectomies use one 10 mm camera port and one 10 mm working port, plus two 5 mm ports. If you are ordering a starter set, 10 mm and 5 mm together will cover the majority of general laparoscopic work.

Is this supplied sterile or does it need autoclaving before first use?

AThe disposable trocars are supplied sterile and ready to use — do not autoclave them. The reusable stainless steel patterns are supplied non-sterile and must be autoclaved before first use and between every case.
